Other Issues

Some deaf and hard-of-hearing children may have other problems or issues to deal with. Other problems such children may have include:

  1. Sensory Integration Problems

Problems with sensory processing are sometimes found with deaf or HOH children, and such children are often seen by occupational therapists

  2. Oral Motor Problems

Oral motor problems may contribute to problems with the deaf or hard-of-hearing child developing proper speech. Some speech language pathologists specialize in this area, while other SLPs may not be knowledgeable of this speciality.
